Detailed Itinerary – 5 Days

Explore the Eastern High Atlas Mountains and conquer Iferouane Summit (4,002 m)
Day 1

Marrakech → Amsouzart (1,800 m) → Lake Ifni

Early morning departure from Marrakech toward the High Atlas Mountains.

The scenic drive crosses the western and eastern sides of the High Atlas range, passing through remote mountain villages, dramatic landscapes, and some of the highest roads in Morocco.

Unlike the more touristic western valleys, this region remains peaceful, traditional, and largely untouched by mass tourism.

After arriving in the village of Amsouzart (approximately 1,800 m), enjoy lunch before beginning the trek toward Lake Ifni.

The trail follows beautiful valleys and traditional Amazigh villages, surrounded by red clay mountains, agricultural terraces, shepherd camps, and peaceful river valleys.

Arrival at Lake Ifni in the late afternoon.

The evening is dedicated to relaxation beside the lake, enjoying a traditional campfire under the stars in one of the most peaceful settings in the High Atlas Mountains.

Day 2

Lake Ifni → Amsouzart Region

After breakfast, continue trekking through remote valleys and traditional Amazigh villages on a different trail than the previous day.

Today’s route offers spectacular views over red mountain landscapes, terraced farming fields, and isolated shepherd settlements where life continues according to ancient mountain traditions.

The eastern side of the High Atlas Mountains is famous for its hospitality, peaceful atmosphere, and authentic cultural encounters.

Lunch is taken in the Amsouzart region.

Day 3

Amsouzart (1,800 m) → Azib Aourai Base Camp (3,000 m)

Today’s route gradually ascends into higher mountain terrain toward Azib Aourai Base Camp.

The trail passes through spectacular valleys and seasonal shepherd settlements where local families spend the summer months grazing livestock in the high mountains.

The peaceful alpine scenery and remote atmosphere make this one of the most authentic trekking experiences in Morocco.

Arrival at base camp in the afternoon with time to rest and prepare for summit day.

Day 4

Iferouane Summit (4,002 m) → Base Camp → Amsouzart

Early morning departure for the ascent to the summit of Iferouane (4,002 m), one of the highest peaks in the High Atlas Mountains.

This is the longest and most challenging day of the trek, with significant elevation gain and dramatic mountain terrain.

The climb rewards trekkers with breathtaking panoramic views across the eastern and central High Atlas Mountains, including distant views toward Mount Toubkal and surrounding peaks.

After spending time at the summit for photos and rest, descend back to base camp for lunch before continuing toward Amsouzart, where the final night is spent in a peaceful mountain setting.

The evening is dedicated to relaxation and celebration after completing the summit challenge.

Day 5

Amsouzart → Marrakech
